Conference Logistics - U-M Participants

Booking your Flight to Accra: Arrival and Departure Dates

  • The conference begins early on Friday morning, July 22 and runs through 5:00 pm on Saturday, July 23.
  • Book your flights soon. International participants travelling through time zones (+4 from Michigan to Accra), are encouraged to arrive on Weds July 20th or Thursday at the latest. We will cover your hotel for check-ins as early as Weds, July 20th and until Sun, July 24th. Delta flights departing from Detroit on Tuesday arrive in Accra at mid-day or evening on Wednesday.
  • Departures on late Sat night (July 23rd) following the Conference are possible, but given that check-ins are recommended at least 3 hours prior to international flights, you are discouraged from booking any flight on Sat night that departs before 10pm.
  • U-M travelers are encouraged to book flights via Travel Focus (within Concur) or your preferred agent. If booked on a p-card, Devon Adjei (devaca@umich.edu) will provide you or your secretary the requisite short code for billing. Send final flight information to Devon for airport transfer in Accra.
  • Alternatively, send your preferred itinerary to Devon Adjei (devaca@umich.edu) and she will arrange purchase.

Airfare

We will reimburse economy tickets only, which will cost approximately $2,000. You must contact Devon prior to booking if your ticket price is quoted at more than $2,400. We will try and assist in securing a lower fare.
