Fall 2012 Last Chance Trip Report

‘Twas the 3rd weekend of October and well into fall,
Nobody could paddle, nobody but Paul.
He begged and he pleaded, bribed and cajoled,
But no one would go, only excuses were told.
Some valid, some interesting, but most were quite lame…
“I’m in Hawaii”, “in Vegas”, or “going to a game.
“Tea at a meeting of society” said one,
Others were “petting my puppy”, “grocery shopping”
Or “can’t until moving is done”.
Since it was perhaps the last weekend for kayaking, good color and fun,
Paul took his wife Karen and to the Lower Yough they did run.
Friday brought sunny, sixties, and 1.9 on the Loop;
Therefore, they kayaked, did moves and surfed until pooped.
After hiking back up to and out to the car,
Good food and good beer at Fall’s City Pub was not far.
Saturday morning the weather said colder with rain,
But they still paddled the whole river even though shuttle was a pain.
They paddled and paddled, boofed, surfed and had fun
And were lucky to have 2 feet, fifties and sun!
The water felt warm, the fall colors were great
And since no one was out there, they were not off the river too late.
After Italian Oven for pasta, salad and free beer,
They went to sleep at the Melody, smiling and with good cheer.
I hope you enjoyed and endured my fine rhyme
And perhaps you can find and excuse to JOIN me next time!
