workshops opposed to big festivals

I actually think we could cut down to two or one big festival a year. The reality is they do very little for the community that hosts the party and they're a hell of a lot of work. Workshops that cater to the communities needs at any given time within an unstructured calendar can provide a more intimate engagement to ideas and fresh energy. When you organize a big festival you have to consider what will bring in the outside crowd and the communities needs sometimes are sacrificed. The whole States now is overloaded with too many festivals and all the same teachers are being recycled. They often in this context come in to sell who they are and not what they can give to the individual community.

I hope we follow through on the recent polls that indicate the workshop preference.

Festivals versus Workshops

Excellent points! We have discussed these before and I completely agree.
I think festivals are draining energy from organizers and the local community. The recent workshop experience with Carrie Whipple has been very positive.

Look forward to more ideas and suggestions as we plan things ahead. Stay tuned...
