[edit] Project Description
M-Reports is an online reporting environment that provides data from multiple sources and includes guided analysis on those data areas. M-Reports is easy to use; requires no training; and will work with many data sources and applications.
[edit] Business Need
- Improve the previous printed-copy method for creating reports for financial certification for Internal Controls.
- Eliminate the need for several reports that provided information about anomalies and outliers.
- Enhance financial administrators’ ability to determine the factors on which to focus, such as top earners, spenders, and so on.
[edit] System/Application & Data Sources
M-Reports is built on Microsoft .NET technology and the Microsoft Business Intelligence toolset. It creates a [Dimensional Data Model | dimensional model]] of data (OLAP cube) with pre-aggregated data to provide the most efficient information retrieval process. The interactive user interface provides guided analysis for viewing data, and it provides drill-to-detail functionality that allows for online research of data anomalies. A graphical interface, which also has drill-down capabilities, delivers high-level metrics, and trending analysis allows for exploration of changes such as increased or decreased spending.
