Head Harbour (East Quoddy) Light

Built: 1831
This 15 meters (49 feet) tall lighthouse is one of the oldest wooden towers still in service in Canada. The bright red St. George's cross on the white tower is one of the most widely known of Canada's lighthouses, appearing in calendars, in tourist literature, and in picture books. Located at the northernmost tip of Campobello Island, it marks the entrance to Passamaquoddy Bay and has a range of about 21 km (13 miles/11 nautical miles). The small island on which the lighthouse stands is only accessible at low tide during a two hour window, but nice views of the light can be had from the main island even at high tide.
