Attending: Naomi Dushay, Kat Hagedorn, Martin Halbert, Diane Hillmann, David Seaman, Sarah Shreeves, Roy Tennant

General objectives of the group:

  • Develop best practices for data provider implementations
  • Develop best practices for �shareable� metadata
  • Develop sharing mechanism for tools, strategies, etc for service providers

Some general notes about the above:

  • Be as prescriptive as possible
  • Try to bridge possible knowledge gaps: point to resources about XML, XML schemas, etc.

Possible follow-ons to this work:

  • Creation of toolkits for data providers
  • Creation of a tutorial for possible data providers

Initial strategies for above:

  • Compile documentation already available and identify gaps/conflicting advice
  • Compile list of tools already created for testing both data provider implementations and for use by service providers
  • Identify tools that are needed (particularly validation tools) and

Meeting Particulars:

  • Invite service providers (and perhaps large data providers � Library of Congress, for instance?)
  • Two day meeting (afternoon one day / morning of the next)

Action Items:

  • Diane/Naomi will send the DC paper, set up the wiki and the mailing list (done! Thanks, Diane!)
  • David will ask Barrie Howard to get possible dates for a large meeting in July or August.
  • Sarah will send out notes for the conference call (done)
  • All participants will send out thoughts on what the outcomes for the large meeting should be.
