For my cultural viewfinder assignment, I asked my friend Kathy Lim from Seoul, South Korea questions.
What are the typical sleep patterns of the culture?
- She told me the sleep patterns are pretty similar to American Culture.
Does some of the population work at night and sleep during the day?
- She told me yes some of the population does, again similar to our culture some people have night time shift jobs.
Are naps common?
- She told me yes, very common. Especially for her.
Where do people sleep?
- In Seoul, since it's a city and very urbanized, she sleeps in a bed in her apartment.
In what part of their living space?
- In her own room.
Do people sleep together or alone?
- Alone
Is there specific clothing people wear to bed?
- No
Are there rituals in the culture related to sleep?
- She wasn't sure of any if there is any.
