Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

Built: 1890 Front, 1969 Rear

This front range light (top photo) is an 11.5 meter (35 foot) square pyramidal wood tower with lantern and gallery, painted white with a red vertical stripe on the seaward side of the tower.

The rear range light (middle photo) is an 18 meter (60 foot) hexagonal concrete tower flaring outward at the top. It is white with a red vertical stripe on the seaward side as well. This tower replaced the original 1890 light. Besides its unusual shape, it is unique in that the light peers out from under the upper platform instead of being mounted on top of it.

Both lights (bottom photo) are still active and are located in downtown Charlottetown, just north of Victoria Park, marking the way into Charlottetown Harbour.
