In spite of its ugly lighthouse, Long Beach Harbor holds a couple of surprises for lighthouse enthusiasts. Located within the harbor are two faux lighthouses that attract your attention. The third photo is of the Rainbow Harbor Lighthouse which is located on the west edge of the entrance to the city’s municipal marina in a small park. The bottom photo is of Parkers' Lighthouse Restaurant, which is located on the east edge of the entrance to the marina. This three story concrete structure is certainly the ugliest lighthouse on the west coast, and perhaps in the whole United States. It has never been manned (thus nicknamed the Robot Light), but was initially controlled remotely from the Los Angeles Harbor Lighthouse. It replaced an earlier skeletal tower and is located at the eastern end of the detached breakwater which extends across much of both the Los Angeles and Long Beach Harbors.
