Newport, Rhode Island

Built: 1890

Automated: 1957

This 34-foot granite, conical light tower is built into the side of a rock ledge at the edge of the water. The light is 42 feet above sea level. In 1938 a hurricane destroyed the other buildings of the station and they were never rebuilt.
