Pictou Range Lights

Built: 1896
These lights were built to replace the original set of range lights that consisted of reflector lanterns raised on poles. Those original pole lights were built in 1889 and located on the farm of Alexander Fraser and referred to as the Fraser's Farm Lights. The present lights were moved to their current location in 1909. They were electrified in 1925, and the red vertical daymarks were added in 1986. The front light (left in photo) is a 7 meter (23 foot) square pyramidal wood tower. The rear light (right in photo) is 11 meters (38 feet) tall, and is also a square pyramidal wood tower.
