From lighthouses
Lubec, Maine
Built: 1890
Automated: 1939
This 40-foot tower sits on a concrete and cast-iron caisson in the middle of Lubec Channel at the harbor's western entrance. This "sparkplug" style light is typical of late 19th century channel lights. The original fourth order Fresnel lens was replaced with a modern optic in 1985.
