This cast iron 32.9 m (108 ft) tall tower houses a first order lens which is 46.4 m (152 ft) above sea level. It can be seen 18.8 nautical miles out to sea. Located along the southwest coast of Norway, it is by far the most challenging light to reach by foot that we have encountered. It was about a 3.4 km (over 2 miles) hike each way, a lot of it being over very rocky terrain. The caretaker, and guide, at the lighthouse is a former lighthouse keeper (for 46 1/2 years), and was keeper at this light from 1952 to 1968. <br clear=all>
