Point Arena, California

Built: 1908

Automated: 1977

One of the tallest on the west coast, this 115 foot tower is constructed of reinforced concrete, which was the first of its kind in the nation. It replaced the original 1870 brick tower which was destroyed by the 1906 earthquake. Point Arena is the first prominent point north of Point Reyes along the Pacific coast. It is currently owned by the Point Arena Lighthouse Keepers, Inc. There is an onsite museum and also vacation rental houses.
