The process of sampling takes an input of a continuous signal and outputs a discrete one. The output signal is a collection of samples, or sets of values at a point in time.
Use in Speech Recognition
Sampling is used in the signal processing part of speech recognition. Through this process, a continuous speech input signal will be broken down into components of values at regular intervals of time.
