Course Audit

This is the checklist to be used when auditing a course for the level of work needed to create an Open version. See also: http://open.umich.edu/education/med/oernetwork/guides/template-openness-audit/materials.


Course Content

  • Indicate here the types of content in the course (eg: text documents, presentation slides, image collection, etc)
  • Including a guesstimate on the number of each is helpful.

Copyright Concerns

  • Indicate here the quantity of content that will need copyright clearance/review.
  • Also include the type of content that has those concerns (eg: video file, lecture slides, etc)

Privacy Concerns

  • Indicate here the quantity of content that will need privacy clearance/review.

Level of Editing Needed

  • Based on the above two concerns, guesstimate on the amount of editing required.
  • State what some of those editing tasks are (if out of the ordinary).

Level of Publishing Needed

  • Indicate if the course needs any specialized layout in the publishing platform.

dScribe Method Recommendation

  • Make a recommendation for which of the available clearing models best fits to this course.

Training Requirements

  • Depending on the Method Recommendation, describe the training needs to facilitate that method.

Next Steps

  • Indicate any next steps needed to be performed by Open.Michigan staff.
