Letter Template - Week 4 OER In Progress Checkin

Hi [Professor _____],

As a part of our ongoing effort to help you publish your course materials as OER (Open Educational Resources), I want to take a moment to once again thank you for participating in the dScribe initiative and to check in with you about how the process is unfolding.

Working with your dScribe, [name of dScribe], we have reviewed nearly four weeks of course material for [course number]. Each week, we meet with [the dScribe] to discuss how to clear the course resources of copyright concerns and then make any necessary edits to add licensing, remove contact information, etc. As we move forward, the next steps are:

1) [dScribe name] may ask you questions about origins of your content; [dScribe name] may ask you questions about replacement content -- if so, you will then need to provide [dScribe] with responses (*requires < 30 min of your time).

2) [dScribe name] will edit your materials for publication -- You will then need to review [his or her] work and provide [dScribe] with feedback prior to publication (*requires 1-2 hours of your time for the entire semester's materials, depending on the depth of your review).

We also invite you to look at the OER publishing site [1] to get a feel for where we publish all the OER materials. Before we publish the material, we will have you return here to review any additions or edits the dScribe team has made to the material.

[paragraph below if needed]

Finally, we need you to indicate which Creative Commons license you want to use for your course material and which course materials you would like us to publish. You can visit this link [2] to fill out the license selector form. Visit link [3] to complete the faculty specifications form.

Again, thank you and please let us know if you have any questions.
