Current Staffing

  • temps - covered by Medical School
  • Kevin - covered mostly by Medical School, 20% by CITI
  • Kathleen - covered mostly? by Medical School?
  • Hewlett (3) grant is subsudizing a number of individuals: Ted (20%), Susan (20%), Kathleen (50%) , Kevin (10% for 2010), Ali (20% for 2010), Piet (20%), Airong (25%)

Garin
  • More on legal and policy side
  • Would like to focus on student-intiated side (community dev.)
Piet
  • work on building Open.Michigan into the institution (business plan)

    • hates students - apparently he hates all mankind (and technology)
Bob
  • "I just do what I'm told - I've been married a long time" ("to Ted?")
  • mobile apps/devices (smaller form factors)
  • generally, things that matter
Greg
  • half-time at E-T - clean up wiki; make materials more adaptable to general population
  • wants to solicit more user-contributed content (crowd-sourcing)
    • why publish this open content in a static form
  • half-time at Lib copyright office
  • finding existing resources (curation of content)
Ali
  • would like to continue building tools/infrastructure, from a software point of view
  • support the process through software development
  • start investigating work opportunities in South Asia
Ted
  • likes doing new and interesting things - especially projects that tie the university together
  • wants to build infrastructure that has legs/foundations
  • continue to be the broker/builder/communicator
Kevin
  • happy doing web/OERca work right now
  • would like to explore more mobile technologies
Kathleen
  • would like to continue as a broker between four African institutions (at the base level) and doing international policy research
  • comfortable continuing to manage dScribes
  • does not want to do as much CSS or script work this year as last year (e.g. CSS work on eduCommons)
  • will start working with medical school content
  • spent a lot of time last year and this summer on generating documentation -> will be handing off a lot of that to Greg.
Susan
  • need to find more balance between tasks
  • wants to help other campus depts become more self-sufficient (with regard to open)
  • "2010: The year of self-sufficiency"
Joseph
  • nursing innovative things along until they are adopted
  • interested in the business plan to break this out of the medical school

STRATEGIC GOALS

  • get a certain percentage of our core staff supported by U-M (institutional support)
  • move to open being the way things are done
    • prospective clearing

  • build community of learners + contributors beyond immediate affilations
  • Find collaborators for OERca (and other technical development?) in Ghana (KNUST- a national service student from John Marfo's group?) and South Africa (UCT - CET or OER@UCT)
