OERca Testing script

Unless specified, all functionality is tested in the dscribe1 role. All this should work without throwing errors for stuff to be considered relatively bug free.

[edit] Edit Course Info

  1. Choose the "Manage Courses" tab or click on the relevant course status bar on the home page.
  2. Click on the "Edit Info" link below the Course Title (it is in the title cell in the table)
  3. Edit the information, make sure you test several fields, preferably all of them.
  4. Click "Done" when finished.

[edit] Add Materials

  1. On the right side of the course page, below the header, click on "Add Materials"
  2. Fill out the appropriate fields for a single file upload and choose the file to upload from your local hard drive
  3. Click the "Add" button on the bottom of the input box, and then click "Close"
  4. On the right side of the page below the header, click on "Add Materials"
  5. Fill out the appropriate fields for a bulk file upload and choose the file to upload from your local hard drive
    1. The file on your hard drive will be a .zip file (up to 250MB?) for bulk
  6. Click the "Add" button on the bottom of the input box, and then click "Close"

[edit] Edit Material Info

  1. On the Materials page for a course, click on "Edit" below the material name in the "Name" column
  2. Edit the information
  3. Click "Done" when finished

[edit] Add Content Objects (COs)

  1. Select a material from the material listing by clicking on a material name
  2. Snapper Upload.
    On the right side of the CO list for the selected material, click on "Add Content Objects".
    Select the "Snapper Upload" tab
    1. Copy something to the system clipboard
    2. Click "Capture"
    3. Specify any metadata
    4. Click "Save"
  3. Single Upload.
    On the right side of the CO list for the selected material, click on "Add Content Objects".
    Select the "Single Upload" tab
    1. Choose an appropriate response to "Ask Instructor:"
    2. Specify a Content Type in the pull down
    3. Enter the "Location in material" which is the page number or slide number.
    4. Click the add button on the bottom of the input box.
  4. Bulk Upload.
    On the right side of the CO list for the selected material, click on "Add Content Objects".
    Select the "Bulk Upload" tab. The bulk upload tool only accepts zip archives.
    The files must be named according to the convention specified below.
    1. If uploading a slide image for the "View Context" functionality
      1. If the image is from a Powerpoint (PPT) file, it should be named slide<slide number>.jpg e.g. slide1.jpg where ".jpg" is the file extension
      2. If the slide is not from a Powerpoint (PPT) file, it should be named <slidetitle>.<slide number>.jpb e.g. wolverine.001.jpg where ".jpg" is the file extension
    2. If uploading a Content Object (CO), the name should be <number>_<descriptivename>.jpg e.g. 14_squirreltail.jpg where ".jpg" is the file extension
    3. If uploading a Replacement Content Object (RCO), the name should be <orginalCOnumber>R_orginalCOdescriptivename.jpg e.g. 14R_squirreltail.jpg where ".jpg" is the file extension. This file will be recognized as a replacement for 14_squirreltail.jpg.
