Winter 2009 dScribe Meeting 3: January 28
[edit] Agenda
- Let students know that we're posting the meeting agendas, summaries, and videos.
- Group Breakout #1
- Take advantage of dScribe2 time.
- Copyright discussion and presentation (Garin)
- Walk through the editing materials step
- Group Breakout #2
- Take advantage of dScribe2 time.
[edit] Summary
- We welcomed a few new dScribes.
- We began the meeting by dividing into our teams. The dScribe2s worked individually with the dScribes to answer questions about faculty permissions, materials, and specific content objects. We've got more faculty permission forms collected - so the dScribes who have those should be ready for the editing materials step.
- As a group, we did some more copyright education to help students through the recommend actions step. We had a more formal discussion in the noon session than the evening one, since we spent more time talking about copyright in the evening session in week 2. We demonstrated the RAD tree again, went through some example content objects, and went over some basics like the purpose of copyright and how long it lasts. We went through the lecture from the lecture from the third week of Bryce Pilz's Intellectual Property class, which someone dScribed last semester.
- We briefly went over the editing materials step and will go over it more next week.
- Note: We forgot to remind dScribes of this at the meeting, but we have office hours every week at Friday at noon - 2 pm at 1016 Catherine St.
