ENGAGING CAMPUS

Business Plan

Timeline
  • in February, each school dean sends a letter to the provost about goals and budgets for the next year
  • by January, we need to have 6 Schools on board and go to the Provost
  • who do we target? department heads? foundations? faculty?
  • budget, goals, sales pitch, markets, products, timelines, resources
  • Goal is to have complete draft by early Nov.
Components
  • Shift to institutional support
  • Board of advisors
  • Move to open being the way things are done
    • Prospective clearing
    • open learning
  • MERLOT
  • Build community of learners and contributors beyond immediate affiliations
  • mission statement
  • who we can recruit as a part of the core Open.Michigan community

Priorities

  1. Long-term business plan by November
    1. external: collaborative projects (are these the cost of doing business or a loss leader?)
    2. internal: campus engagement work
  2. Get Med School content up by January
  3. Get OERca2 done by June (may compromise some features - > have to prioritize)
  4. Redo open.umich.edu/* (toward Drupal)
    1. open.umich (by April?)
    2. educommons (by January)
    3. wiki (by April?)
    4. blog
  5. dScribe process refinement
  6. African Health OER Network deliverables

Open questions

1. Where are putting our time on each of these products and services? Where do individual roles intersect with the priorities?

AGENDA FOR NEXT DAY

  1. Budget
  2. Individual roles
  3. Detailed timeline (begin longterm business plan)
  4. Address parking lot
  5. Add items to STOP DO list
