The Constraints of a form, genre, or medium are the communicative limitations or inabilities inherent to that mode. Rodney H. Jones and Christoph A. Hafner pair Affordances and constraints to explain how communicative tools enable and prevent specific ways of thinking and doing [1]. All communicative forms might be better understood as having specific affordances and constraints unique to that specific form.
