Bass Rock Light

This 66 foot tall white tower sits on a small island one mile off the southeast coast of Scotland, in the Firth of Forth, three miles northeast of North Berwick. Its light is 151 feet above sea level and has a range of 10 nautical miles. It was designed by David Alan Stevenson and is still active today. Bass Rock is a massive crag rising 350 feet out of the sea and it is about one mile in circumference. In addition to the lighthouse, the rock is home to 30-40,000 pairs of gannets. It is also occupied by razorbils, quillemots, cormorants, puffins, eider ducks and various gull species.
