This 16 meters (52 feet) tall octagonal concrete tower sits on the west side of Georges Island across the harbour from the city of Halifax. Operationally, it is a front range light for entrance into Halifax Harbour. A vertical red stripe was painted on the seaward side of the tower in 1973 as a daymark.
