East Chicago, Indiana

Built: 1935

This 75 foot tall, art deco style square cylindrical steel tower is mounted on a raised steel platform. It is located at the end of the breakwater on the east side of the harbor entrance in East Chicago along the southern shore of Lake Michigan. It originally showed a 4th order Fresnel lens from a focal plane of 78 feet. Today, a modern green beacon sits atop the tower. This light is identical to the Port Washington Breakwater Light in Wisconsin.
