Orient Point Light

This 45 foot tall conical "sparkplug" light tower is made of cast iron plate with a brick lining and sits on a cast iron caisson. It held a fifth-order Fresnel lens until 1988. It sits on Oyster Pond Reef just off the tip of Orient Point at the eastern end of the north "fork" of Long Island. It marks the western side of the inlet from Long Island Sound into Gardiner's Bay. It is still an active light.
