Pipe Island, Michigan

Built: 1888

Pipe Island is near the southern end of the St. Mary's River, just over a mile north of DeTour Village. The octagonal brick tower had its lantern removed in 1937 and a steel skeletal structure (still active) was put in its place. There are two 2-bedroom houses on the island, which is privately owned and is a wildlife sanctuary. The tower can only be seen by boat.
