Point Conception Light

This light sits at the western entrance to the Santa Barbara Channel, where the Pacific Ocean coastline makes an abrupt 90 degree turn to the north. The 52 foot tall, stucco/wood/brick tower is attached to a one story oil house and has a focal plane of 133 feet. The original 1st order Fresnel lens is still mounted in the lantern room, but is no longer in use - a modern beacon having been added. This current lighthouse replaced the original 1856 lighthouse (one of the first seven on the west coast) which was located at the top of the hill.
