Spencer's Island Light

This 10 meters (33 feet) tall tapering, square wooden tower is located along the Minas Channel, which connects the Bay of Fundy and Minas Basin. The community of Spencer’s Island is not located on an island, but is rather named for an island of the same name found just offshore. It was formerly one of Nova Scotia’s premiere shipbuilding ports. After the lighthouse was discontinued in 1987, it was acquired by the Spencer's Island Community Association. It was opened to the public in 1991, featuring displays of the town's shipbuilding heritage. In 2006, permission was received from the Canadian Coast Guard to reactivate the light in the tower.
