Sturgeon Bay Canal North Pierhead Light
From lighthouses
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
Built: 1882
This lighthouse sits at the end of the pier jutting out into Lake Michigan on the north side of the Sturgeon Bay Ship Canal. The approach to the light is quite unusual. A catwalk extends the length of the pier, then at the end makes a sharp left turn and extends over a 20 foot wide stretch of open water to a second, much smaller pier on which the lighthouse sits. The catwalk runs to the stairway that leads to the house's third level door.
