Turkey Point Light

Located at the Elk River entrance to the Chesapeake Bay, in Elk Neck State Park, this 38-foot tall, white, conical, brick tower is situated on a 100-foot bluff, giving the light a focal plane of 129 feet above the water. It was originally equipped with a 4th order Fresnel lens. It was relit as a private aid to navigation in 2002. This light was the home of the last woman lighthouse keeper, Fannie Mae Salter, and was tended by more women keepers than any other lighthouse on Chesapeake Bay.
