ENCORE Vocabulary/Glossary
Presenting Complaint
The conceptual definition of the goal or product of the MD21 educational system. These are the domains or dimensions of knowledge, skill and attitudes that define our graduates – these can vary in level of specificity from the Michigan 9 to much more finely-grained competencies related to EKG interpretation, e.g.

NB: competencies are defined by (or define) the ‘product’ and will be different for different ‘products,’ e.g., clinical researcher, primary care provider, academic physician, radiologist, GUMP, etc.

Overall, a total of 128 such complaints have been identified. For summer 09 pilot, only the following 3 are in scope
  1. Renal Failure
  2. Trauma
  3. Hyperglycemia
