dScribe meeting - Oct 22, 2008


Preparation for the meeting

  1. Try to get as many of your content objects cleared (green) or at least "in process" (blue) in OERca. Review the dScribe Task List for guidance: https://open.umich.edu/wiki/index.php5/DScribe_Task_List (Main Page -> Fall 2008 dScribes -> dScribe Task List)
  2. Take note how much time you spend on each of these tasks using the journal template. (https://open.umich.edu/wiki/images/9/9e/DScribe_Journal_Template.xls) (Home -> Fall 2008 dScribes -> Journal). Fill in tab for the given week and email the updated spreadsheet to Garin.am
  3. Though we will not be having our usual work session hours from 4:45 - 5:45 pm tomorrow due to the Brewster Kahle talk, Kathleen and/or Piet are available to meet between 8:30 and 2:30 pm.

What to bring to the meeting:

  • Laptop
  • All of the course materials for weeks 1 - 7 uploaded and in progress or cleared status in OERca
  • Journal
  • Questions

Here is what we will be covering at the meeting:

  1. Individual status update and questions (20 min)
  2. Items to collect (journals) (5 min)
  3. Review editing process (https://open.umich.edu/wiki/index.php5/Editing_Process) (20 min)
  4. Work sessions: dScribe 2s will work individually with dScribes to on clearing course materials (40 min)

Next week:

  1. The focus next week will be on clearing as much of the course content for the first half of the semester. We will answer answers and continue the work sessions. The weekly meeting for 10/29 will be extended to 9 pm. The plan is to make a significant dent in the clearing process for the the 8 weeks worth course materials that you'll have.
